Since its inception, Summit has invested more than $1.5 billion in distressed debt acquisitions, balance sheet restructures of operating companies, special situation capital, bridge loans and joint ventures.

Typical investments range between $1 million and $75 million with the flexibility to do larger transactions. Charles J. (CJ) Burger is a Founding Member and the President & Chief Executive Officer of Summit. He is responsible for overseeing the business development team. Prior to Summit’s inception, CJ was the Managing Director of the Special Assets Group at Republic Financial Corporation. CJ began his career as a Staff Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in New York before taking a role as a Senior Vice President with Fleet Bank in Rhode Island.

CJ holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from New York University and is a past board member of the Colorado Turnaround Management Association (TMA).

Steve Petrie is a Founding Member and the Chief Operating Officer of Summit. At Summit, Steve is responsible for managing the asset management, loan operations and accounting functions of the firm. Prior to Summit’s inception, Steve was the Managing Director of Asset Management at Republic Financial Corporation. Prior to Republic, he was with Ocwen Financial Corporation, Wilshire Financial Corporation, Univest Financial Corporation and Bank One Texas, NA.

Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a Certified Public Accountant. Steve is also a 12-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Patrick joined Summit in 2015 and is a Managing Director and Head of Underwriting. Prior to Summit, Patrick spent a majority of his career as a restructuring focused investment banker at Miller Buckfire and a middle market private equity investor at Key Principal Partners (currently dba Cyprium Partners). Patrick also has additional experience as a Director in Corporate Strategy at Ameriprise Financial, a publicly traded asset and wealth management company.

Jennifer Meyerowitz joined Summit Investment Management in 2018 as Managing Director of Business Development. Her responsibilities include business development, deal sourcing, marketing and underwriting. Her experience in restructuring, bankruptcy law and advising distressed companies spans almost 20 years and she has served as an attorney, consultant, sales and company leader in the industry. Highly regarded within the industry for her operational expertise as well as her unique ability to connect with and develop relationships with clients and referral sources, Jennifer is responsible for executing the company’s long-term growth strategy. 

Prior to joining Summit, Jennifer led the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Practice Group at Garden City Group (GCG), managing both the sales and operations teams. She began her career as a practicing attorney at Alston & Bird LLP where, for nearly 10 years, she represented debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, banks and trustees in complex workouts, debt restructurings, commercial litigation and chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. 

 Jennifer earned her J.D. from Emory University and her B.A. from University of Michigan. She is an active participant and board member in several industry organizations including the American Bankruptcy Institute, Turnaround Management Association, International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Association, and the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors, among others.

Ajay Bajaj is a Director with Summit Investment Management’s acquisition group and has been with Summit for 10 years. Ajay has over 20 years in real estate and corporate finance. Ajay came to Summit from Western Capital Partners where he was the Regional Manager for the Rocky Mountain and Western Regions. Ajay has held finance and business development positions with CapMark, Cerner, and Oracle.

Benjiman Godbout joined Summit in 2018 as a Managing Director of Opportunistic Credit and is based in New York City. His role includes business development, deal sourcing, underwriting, and asset management. Benjiman has provided financial and operational restructuring advisory services for more than 10 years. Prior to joining Summit, he served as Director of Investment Banking and Advisory at Carl Marks Advisors in New York City.

John Crowley joined the investment team at Summit in 2019 as a Director of Underwriting, where he is responsible for deal sourcing and underwriting of distressed debt and opportunistic credit situations. 

Prior to joining Summit, John was a member of the investment team within BlackRock Alternative Advisors, the firm's Hedge Fund Solutions business. While at BlackRock, John covered credit-related strategies including stressed and distressed credit, as well as equity and credit strategies within Emerging Markets. Before joining BlackRock, John served as a U.S. Navy SEAL for six years, and prior to the military, he began his civilian career in commercial real estate development with Crowley Capital Partners. 

John holds a BS degree in Business Finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MBA degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
